Our Development School brings together new joiners from all four main IMC offices. Whether you’re an experienced software engineer or a fresh grad, you can expect a structured, five-week traineeship with a broad mix of learning and development opportunities.

Week one is dedicated to developing a high-level understanding of trading and financial markets. You’ll be introduced to the work we do at IMC, including options trading, and learn about the steps involved in executing a trade. You’ll also get the inside track on our market-leading systems and strategies from the perspective of seasoned IMC traders.

After that, the real work begins. Over the remaining weeks, you’ll learn how to apply your existing programming skills to IMC’s specialist, fast-paced environment. Your main focus will be working on a personal development project. 

Designed around our specific trading systems and operations, this project provides a hands-on introduction to the kind of work you’ll be doing day to day. It will also put your programming skills to the test. 

As you dive deep into your project, you’ll also have opportunities to further your learning and development via a mixture of classroom-based training and expert lectures. You’ll also network with current IMCers and get to know your future colleagues through a selection of social and cultural activities. 

What’s next?

After the global traineeship, experienced hires return to their local office to rejoin their desk and carry on where they left off.

If you’re a new graduate, we’ll assess your specific competencies and interests as a software engineer, and then match these with the needs of your chosen location. Having found your team, you’ll continue your advancement through desk-based training as well as a variety of learning & development opportunities.
